GotchiCaast #2 (Featuring Bearded Lady)
Primer: Bearded Lady is one of the prominent members in the Aavegotchi community. In this episode of the GotchiCaast, he shares how he started his journey with 500 GHST and 5 portals and grew it to a legion of 28 Gotchis with multiple plots of REALM parcels. There's some alpha leak as well. Read on!
Origins Of His Handle
Had an aavegotchi that had the Lady set
Had managed to get the Sergey Beard wearable at a cheap price of 1800 GHST. Back then, the floor price for the Sergey Beard was 15,000 GHST
Equipped the Sergey Beard on the Lady Gotchi and named her Bearded Lady
Background
Have been following the crypto space since 2012. Got more serious when Ethereum came out
Wished he had gotten into Aavegotchi even earlier. Heard about it last fall but didn't have the bandwidth to get more involved in the community
Started out with 500 GHST and 5 portals at Haunt 1 in March. Have been grinding since then
Currently have 28 Gotchis
Have been cutting back on the number of Gotchis he has. Focused on maximizing his top Gotchis. Have 4 Gotchis in the top 100 right now
Competitiveness Of The Rarity Farming Leaderboards
In Haunt 1, Bearded Lady was ranked ~60
Currently, she's ranked at 96 at the last cut-off
His top 2 Gotchis are in the mid-30s
Competitiveness comes from both the number of Aavegotchis released in Haunt 2 (15,000) and more wearables being released
Impact Of Wearables On Traits
Aim is to have each of your traits to be on either end of the bell curve
Using the Bearded Lady Aavegotchi as an example:
High NRG and High BRN (with high being defined as above 50)
Low SPK and low AGG (with low being defined as below 50)
Ideally, have to find wearables to increase her NRG and BRN and decrease her SPK and AGG
Possible to have an Aavegotchi with a lower base rarity score outperforming a Gotchi with a higher base rarity score if one gets the right wearables for it
The Wearable Market
Wearable price has gone up astronomically
Common wearables used to cost 3-4 GHST. Now it cost 20-30 GHST
Some of the less desirable legendary wearables like Baby Bottle used to go for under 300 GHST. Now, they go for 1000 GHST
Possible for wearables price to come back down into balance
Haunt 2 increased the Gotchi population by 150% while there was only a 20% increase in new wearable supply. Hence, the demand and price increase for wearables
Would make sense for the team to release new wearables when the Gotchiverse goes live
The Wearables Taask Force
Wearables Taask force is to provide Pixelcraft with insights as to the state of the wearable market in terms of:
Prices and availability of wearables
Researching into the trait modifiers for wearables
The type of wearable slots that are available
Thoughts On The Gotchiverse
Own 42 REALM parcels
Dropped in ~450 Drop Tickets for the raffle. Got really lucky and ended up with 15 parcels, with 11 of them being Spacious parcels
Got some District 1 parcels. Value is holding up pretty well
Bought a bunch of parcels at District 22 as it's near the main north gate. Thinks that when the rest of the realm goes live, there will be Gotchis coming and going from the Citaadel
Has a bunch of parcels that are adjacent to each other
His goal for the auction was to go in heavy early, then sit back and wait till the end and buy things at the floor. Ended up buying a lot of floor parcels
Alpha About Tickets
Does not mint any tickets until a few days before a raffle
There are people who are successful in minting tickets, selling them, and compounding their gains
Did the math and found that it was really worth it to go all in on the raffle as there wasn't as many tickets that he thought there should be
Likes the option to be flexible:
Minting drop tickets
Selling tickets
Holding on to tickets for the next raffle
Much harder to gauge returns from raffles. People could add in more tickets at the last hour
If Someone New Wants To Get Started, What Should They Do?
People need to figure out what their goal is and how much time they have to devote to it
There are many ways to profit in the Aavegotchi ecosystem:
Buying an Aavegotchi, petting it, and let the price appreciate
Go down the rabbit hole, read the wiki from front to back, and devise a strategy
"The truth is that there are so many ways in this [Aavegotchi] ecosystem to play the game and to be successful and to make money. There's not really like a wrong way to play it." - Bearded Lady
Depends on the person's budget as well
Onboarded someone who wanted to spend 5 ETH on Aavegotchi:
Purchase a decent Aavegotchi with a rarity score around the 540 range
Stake the remaining funds
"Just start staking. I mean, just take the GHST, put it into the Aavegotchi website. I've run the numbers before and that's returning you like 50 to 70% depending on the raffle tickets APR before compounding. That's a really good return." - Bearded Lady
Is He Involved In Any Other Metaverses?
Aavegotchi is his biggest play. Been focusing solely on it
Aavegotchi has a strong team, good community, and good tokenomics
Aavegotchi is in the shadows right now, but is much closer to a Metaverse play-to-earn game. Thinks that when it goes live in January, people will start to wake up to where they are at
How Was GeckoCon?
Missed out on Jesse's speech because he had trouble logging in
