Sky plots - land sales for Infinity Skies
Primer: Land sales for Infinity Skies will be coming soon in April 2022. This article seeks to explore the mechanics of land, also called sky plots, and also suggest a method to valuate them.
Introduction
Infinity Skies is a sandbox game that caters to different types of players. There are 4 aspects of the game: social, trading, adventure and building. The demo building game is already live but the actual game is not.
Look at the roadmap for Infinity Skies below:
We can see that in April 2022, land sales for Infinity Skies will begin. That should be a significant milestone for the game because a part of the game is actually related to the building of the castle, which rests on a sky plot.
Sky Plots
In the Infinity Skies world, the map consists of rings around a centre of a circle. There are 4 rings, each representing the 4 different rarities: Astral, Divine, Legendary and Epic. Each ring can hold a different number of sky plots. There are also sky plots outside these rings that are called deep-sky, but these plots do not require any NFT to be able to play there. Each plot has a coordinate system and hence are different from one another.
The rarity of each sky plot depends on 2 factors:
The total supply for that tier of land
The coordinates of each plot
A total of 56,250 sky plots will be up for sale. The rarest Astral level will have 250 total supply, compared to Epic level which has 45,000 in total. Since Astral level sky plots make up 0.44% of the total supply, it should fetch the highest price. So far, there’s no mention of the price officially, but I suspect there’ll be news soon in the coming weeks since we’re already at the end of March right now.
Will all Astral level sky plots fetch the same price in the market? I doubt so because some coordinates have numbers that I think will make it more memorable and hence easier to go to.
Importance of prominent Sky Plots
Why is it important for sky plots to be easy to remember?
In the actual game, you can visit each other’s castles on different sky plots. Players can vote on each other’s castles by giving them prestige points. Prestige points will determine the ranking system of the social leaderboard. At the end of each month, the top-ranking castle owners will be rewarded.
Here’s a glimpse of the rewards:
Top 3: “Kingship status” for 1 month + 1 Unique Royal crown NFT + all lower rewards
Top 100: 1 Unique Astral NFT + all lower rewards
Top 500: 1 Unique Divine NFT + all lower rewards
Top 2500: 1 Unique Legendary NFT
All these NFTs are specially crafted by the art team, so they are valuable and also exclusive. The Kingship status will grant each king a 0.33% tax on all NFT trades made during the month!
So why must Sky plots be memorable? It makes it easier for anyone to find and visit the castle so that the votes will come. The best analogy for this is to imagine building a shopping mall on a very secluded corner compared to the same mall at a busy junction. Naturally, the latter will fetch a higher price because of the potential crowd that the location can attract.
Examples of Sky Plots
Sanders is kind enough to tease us with a few pictures of the sky plots.
Take a look at this plot below. Firstly, it has Astral level rarity (only 250 of them). Secondly, it has a perfect coordinate (0,0) that is super easy to remember. The two zeroes also look like the Infinity Symbol ∞. I bet my last dollar this sky plot will fetch a very very high price, possibly the highest in all the sky plots that are for sale.
What about this?
While this is a Legendary rarity sky plot (10,000 of them, or 17.8% total supply), it has an ‘interesting’ coordinate that might make it stand out from other Legendary sky plots. This will be an interesting one to watch out for. Will the price be higher than another sky plot with higher rarity but less ‘interesting’ coordinates?
Your guess is as good as mine!
